SERENA WILLIAMS WINS FRENCH OPEN AFTER DEFEATING LUCIE SAFAROVA IN FINAL

Serena Williams win the French Open and claims her 20th Grand Slam title. With this great win she becomes third player of the era of tennis to win twenty Grand Slam Titles just after Steffi Graf with 22Titles and all-time leader Australia’s Margaet Court with 24 Titles.

Before entering the French Open final Serena’s wining stats in Grand Slams finals were 19-4.The American, ranked world no one, needed two hours and one minute to win 6-3 6-7 (2-7) 6-2 at Roland Garros against Czech 13th seed Lucie Safarova.
Safarova, playing her first Grand Slam final, led by a break but Serena won last six games in decider.Williams will hold all four major titles at once, if she won at Wimbledon in July.

“When I was a little girl, in California, my father and my mother wanted me to play tennis. And now I’m here, with 20 Grand Slam titles,” Williams said in French. “This is very special for me. I haven’t always played very well here, but I’m really happy to win the 20th here.”
“This is by far the most dramatic. I didn’t even train yesterday, I’ve had the flu … it’s just been a nightmare.”
“I choked, simple as that,” Williams said. “I hit a lot of double-faults, and my first serve just went off. … I got really nervous, it was a big moment to win 20.”
“Lucie played very well, she was a magnificent opponent,” Williams said. “It was a dream for me to win.”
Safarova replied, “Serena, you were amazing today, you a great fighter. Congratulations.”
