The last 16 clash between Germany and Algeria took place at Estádio Beira-Rio on 30 june. The match which seems to be an easy challenge for Germany was converted into a tough competition by Algeria.

First half was a tough Challenge for Germany who faced some early attacks from Algeria. Germany defence looked uncontrolled and filthy, on the counterpart Algeria defence showed up their skills to hold Germany 0-0 till 90 minutes.

Schurrle the Chelsea man break the deadlock by striking at 92nd minute of the game. He not only gave Germany 1-0 lead but also cheered fans that were waiting for a long for this. Ozil after scoring at 119th minute put Germany in far good position to let it through in quarterfinals. A very late effort by Djabou at 120+ 1th minute made a strike for Algeria but that was not enough to hold back germany. The game wrapped up at 2-1 in favour of Germany who will play against France in quarterfinals.
