Steffi Graf: Kerala’s Ayurveda brand ambassador

Kerala’s Ayurveda has appointed Tennis legend Steffi Graf as its brand ambassador. The decision was taken on Saturday in a cabinet meeting said by state Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and appointment was made on Wednesday.

Steffi Graf is a German former world no.1 tennis player. She has won 22 grand slam singles title and also became the 1st and only tennis player to won all four grand slam singles title and Olympic gold medal in the year 1988. She also holds the record to be the no.1 for total 377 weeks.

The 46-year-old Graf, who retired in 1999, married former World No. 1 men’s tennis player Andre Agassi in October 2001.

Ayurveda is mainly popular in Kerala which draws an increasing number of tourists. Kerala in South India has traditionally been the source of a rich variety of medicinal plants and herbs, attracts large number of people from the country and abroad every year.

The decision was taken with a view to promote or increase Ayurveda worldwide through her who has a huge fan following in all over the world. The Kerala tourism department had discussed the agreement with German Tennis star Steffi Graf.

The Kerala tourism department was given sanction to sign an agreement with Graf to become Ayurveda brand ambassador as part of the department’s ‘Visit Kerala Scheme’, Mr. Chandy said.
