Ferrari adds Charles Leclerc and Giuliano Alesi to Driver Academy

Charles Leclerc and Giuliano Alesi has been confirmed by Ferrari as two new young drivers ahead of the 2016 season for the Ferrari Driver Academy.

The Ferrari announcement said Leclerc would also be “on the books” of its F1 customer team Haas. Autosport understands this deal could involve Friday practice outings at grands prix.

They will join the junior drivers list along with Antonio Fuoco and 16-year old Chinese racer Guan Yu Zhou in the Academy. Leclerc,  Monegasque racing driver would act as development driver for the Ferrari Formula One team. He was the top driver in the last European Formula and has decided to move to GP3 with ART grand prix this year.

Meanwhile Charles Leclerc rival Alesi will also race in the GP3 this year for Trident. He is the son of former F1 racer and Ferrari driver Jean Alesi who raced from the year 1991 to 1995 for the Ferrari Formula One.

On the other hand,another teammate driver Antonio Fuoco, an Italian racing driver had his first Formula One test with Ferrari during the 2-day post-Austrian Grand Prix test in Spielberg at the Red Bull Ring.

The 16-year old Chinese driver Guan Yu Zhou will be the only driver who moves to European Formula 3 with Motopark this season. He finished second in the last year Italian F4 Championship. The academy is now being operated by former sporting director Massimo Rivola.
