F1 teams agrees elimination style qualifying

New elimination style has been introduced at Tuesday meeting of the F1 strategy group and F1 commission in Geneva and F1 teams have agreed to this new elimination style which means slowest car at certain segments is eliminated during the various qualifying rounds.

This is the positive move taken by the F1 commission in order to improve the show But new rule still have to get approval by the FIA’s World Motor Sport Council.

Working procedure of elimination system

·   16 minutes duration ·   Slowest driver is eliminated after 7 minutes ·  Slowest driver eliminated every 1:30 seconds until the chequered flag ·  Total 7 driver eliminated,15 progress to Q2	15 minutes duration ·  Slowest driver eliminated after 6 minutes · Slowest driver eliminated every 1:30 seconds until the chequered flag · Total 7 drivers eliminated , 8 progress to Q3	· 14 minutes duration ·  Slowest driver eliminated after 5 minutes · Slowest driver eliminated every 1:30 seconds until the chequered flag ·Total 2 drivers left in final 1:30 seconds

The F1 Commission also discussed a penalty system whereby extra time would be added to each drivers qualifying time on the basis of championship positions.
