Alfonso Celis to test new car for Force India

Inexperienced Celis to test new car for Force India 2016 season

Force India has announced that Mexican teenager Alfonso Celis will be their first driver to test the team’s new car next week. They choose Celis, an inexperienced driver over a regular driver.

Alfonso Celis Jr., 19 year old driver belongs to Mexican city. He started his career with karting in 2009 and in 2011  made his debut in LATAM Challenge Series.  Celis, who raced in both Formula Renault 3.5 and the GP3 Series now serves as a development driver in Force India team.

Celis will drive the new VjM09 car on two of the four days of the first pre-season test at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya and the other two regular drivers who will also test the car are Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg.

“Blimey. He’s got to be bringing some serious cash with him to take up a seat for a quarter of pre-season testing,” commented NBC’s pitlane reporter Will Buxton on Twitter.

“He’s the reserve and he’s going to be doing a lot of Friday practice sessions. He needs to get some miles under his belt and experience the car,” said a team spokesman.
