Granit Xhaka has confirmed he will leave Borussia Monchengladbach this summer and all ready to set his foot on Emirates Stadium.
Xhaka is Gunners’ top midfield target and they are understood to have tabled a deal in the region of £33.8million for the 23-year-old midfielder.
Just days after Arsenal had submitted the bid, Xhaka held talks with Gladbach (Borussia Monchengladbach) over his future on Sunday.
After the repeated talks with Gladbach over his exit he is believed to bring in a sizeable sum for Gladbach and will mark his presence in the Premier league before the European Championships
“The circle has closed,” he told Bild.
“We are now in daily conversations and there will definitely be a decision before the European Championships.
“I made my first competitive appearance for Borussia in the cup against Darmstadt. That was followed by four wonderful years. Now my last game may be against Darmstadt again.”
Although Xhaka has a contract till 2019 with Gladbach but the club has also resigned to his departure.
Sporting director Max Eberl said: “Of course it is our desire that Granit remains. But we know that there are several interested parties. And since there is then one or the other issue that we say: Yes, we have to do it!”
