Real Madrid has confirmed that Gareth Bale will not play in the upcoming Match against Liverpool on Wednesday because of his hip injury. It’s not only Bale whose absence will be there in the match but Sergio Ramos too due to his calf injury.

Both the players are on rest in hope of full recovery for this coming Saturday’s Clasico at home to Barcelona.

A statement on the club’s website read: “After tests carried out on Gareth Bale by the Real Madrid Sanitas medical services, he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury in the right pyramidalis muscle. His progress will be monitored.”

Ramos, meanwhile, missed Spain’s internationals due to the injury and also played no part in the Blancos’ 5-0 victory at the weekend which puts him in a doubt to play in Clasico.

Bale’s spot is expected to be filled by Isco while Nacho fills in for Ramos. Karim Benzema is back in the 20-man squad of Real Madrid having been rested with a foot injury against Levante and is expected to step back into the XI at the expense of on-loan forward Javier Hernandez.

Madrid will be defending their 100% record in Champions League Group B at Liverpool, who have won one and lost one so far.
