Dhoni only Indian in Forbes list of highest paid athletes

Forbes magazine’s today  listed the 100 highest paid athletes of the world, out of 100 Indian ODI cricket team Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been ranked 23rd on the Forbes list 2015. He is also the alone Indian sportsperson that included in the Forbes magazine.

American boxer Flyod Mayweather topped the Forbes list 2015 followed by Manny Pacquiaa in second spot. The list also includes golfer Tiger Woods, tennis star Roger Federer and Portuguese soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Phil Mickelson and Kobe Bryant are the part of top-10 of the Forbes magazine 2015.

“Mayweather’s $300 million year shatters the record for athlete earnings, which was previously held by Tiger Woods who banked $115 million in 2008,” Forbes said.

Dhoni is the most recognised cricketer in the world and also India’s best captain in all formats. With the total earnings of $ 31 million, including salary/winnings -$ 4 million and money received from endorsements of many brands, products etc.-$ 27 million makes him to hold the 23rd rank in the Forbes list.

“He led India to the semi-final round of the 2015 Cricket World Cup before suffering a loss to eventual champion Australia, and in May the Chennai Super Kings went to the IPL Finals for the sixth time in his eight years as team captain,” Forbes said.

Forbes, earnings include all salaries, prize money and bonuses paid out between June 1, 2014 and June 1, 2015.
