The Champions League winners were totally devastated by their performance in the clash with Athletic Bilbao on Friday.

Mikel San Jose opened the scoring for Athletic Bilbao after netting from the halfway line in 13th minute.  The geared up Athletic Bilbao striker Aritz Aduriz scores twice in quick succession to put the home side three goals ahead after 62 minutes. Aritz Aduriz completed his hat-trick by converting the penalty after Dani Alves penalized for foul from a corner.

Barcelona lost the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup 4-0 before their second leg on Monday. Barca had just made four trophies out of four on Tuesday night after they won an exciting UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla in Tbilisi. The 4-0 defeat eventually put Barca’s sextuple hopes to an end i.e. of winning six out of six trophies in 2015.

Barcelona coach Luis Enrique took full responsibility of the shocking defeat against Athletic Bilbao and said “I had to make many changes because we had only three days to recover. I take responsibility for the loss,”

“The schedule hurt us, as we had just come back from a trip to Georgia, but this is not the time to look for excuses. The calendar is what it is.”

“I’ve never played an easy game against Athletic. I congratulate them, but on Monday there will be another atmosphere,”

“Is a comeback possible? This was just the first half. If there’s one team that can turn this around it’s Barca.”

Barca players and fans are pretty much optimistic that they can keep their sextuple hopes alive with a dramatic comeback on Camp Nou.
