Kohli breaks the record of de Villier’s fastest 7000 ODI runs

Virat Kohli became the first cricketer to score fastest 7000 runs in 161 innings in ODIs and breaks the record of AB de Villiers who scored in 166 innings. He achieved this milestone in the third One Day against Australia on Sunday.

He also became the third batsman to score 5 hundreds against Australia in 19 matches. Sachin Tendulkar is on the top seat followed by Rohit Sharma, with his 5th hundred now he has 24 hundreds under his belt and also the fastest to score 24 hundreds in ODIs.

Previously de Villiers was the holder of fastest 7000 runs title, who went this landmark against Australia in November 2014. While AB achieved this title in his 172nd match whereas Kohli done this in his 169th match.

Before this 169the match Kohli needed only 19 runs to reach the landmark of fastest 7000 runs. Following are the other players who have scored fastest 7000 runs in ODIs- Brian Lara, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Jacques Kallis, Ricky Ponting and Rahul Dravid.
