Ravi Shastri may continue as team India Director until T20 World Cup 2016.

Ravi Shastri could continue as team India director until 2016 T20 World Cup that will be hosted by India, was finalised during the BCCI meeting in Kolkata on Saturday comprising three members advisory committee and also included board president Jagmohan Dalmiya and Secretary Anurag Thakur. The advisory committee consists Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly.

While the tenure of the supporting staff-Sanjay Bangar, B Arun, and R Sridhar have been extended until the end of the T20world cup next year.

 “This has become a political game. A preview is a must before the board gets down to the official procedure,” a top BCCI official said.

According to a BCCI insider, Shastri felt he wouldn’t be able express his opinions on air about players he would be joining and if he does, it may not send the right signals to the players before he joins them in the dressing room.

Earlier this week, Shastri was also retained as director for the tour of Bangladesh along with the same assistant coach’s ­ Sanjay Bangar, Bharat Arun and R Sridhar. The delay in the appointment of new coach for team India is under processed and that lead to further extension to Shastri as director of team for upcoming Bangladesh tour.

The Team will reach Dhaka on Monday morning after undergoing a fitness test which is scheduled on Saturday evening. The team will also hold a practice session on Sunday.
