India v/s Zim: Sanju Samson to replace injured Rayudu

Ambati Rayudu has been ruled out of the third and final One Day between India and Zimbabwe on Tuesday due to the injury and will be replaced by Sanju Samson. Rayudu suffered the injury while playing the second One Day at Harare.

According to the medical report Rayudu had pulled his right quadriceps muscles during the second ODI match against Zimbabwe which will take 2-3 weeks of rehabilitation, due to this injury he has been ruled of the tour remaining all matches schedule including two T20 matches.

“The BCCI medical team confirms that Ambati Rayudu has been ruled out of the remaining part of the India’s tour of Zimbabwe due to an injury he has sustained while playing the 2nd ODI. Rayudu has pulled his right quadriceps muscles and will require 2 to 3 weeks of rehabilitation,” said the BCCI in a statement.

“The All India senior selection committee has named Sanju Samson as Rayudu’s replacement for the rest of the tour.”

Rayudu was in good form and has scored his second ODI hundred for India in the first match on July 10 and also contribute valuable 41 runs in the second ODI which India won by 62 runs. His injury will give Samson an opportunity to play his first ODI international.

Samson has done well in IPL, playing for Rajasthan Royals and impressed selectors by his performances during the IPL matches. He has played 21 First-Class games, besides 29 List A matches and 67 T20s.
