England vs India, 2nd Investec Test, lord’s. 4th Day
India tightened their grip on the second Test against England at Lord’s on Sunday. Defending 318, the visitors reduced the English team to 105 for 4 at the close of play on day four with Joe Root (14) and Moeen Ali (15) at the crease.
While India have their nose slightly ahead, a lot of credit should go to Ravindra Jadeja with his aggressive knock of 57-ball-68 that enabled India to reach 342 thereby extending their lead to a healthy 318. Murali Vijay (95) missed century by a whisker while Bhuvneshwar Kumar (52 off 71 balls) continued his stupendous all-round show.
Ravindra Jadeja trapped Sam Robson lbw for 7 to deal the first blow and Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma then made further inroads. Shami got rid of Gary Ballance while Sharma accounted for Ian Bell and Alastair Cook to put their team on the way to its first win at the historic ground in 28 years.
