Cricket: Rahul Dravid named batting consultant for England tour

India’s batting legend and former Captain Rahul Dravid will mentor team India’s batting on the current tour of England which will be start on July 9, 2014. “it was the coach who approached us on behalf of the team and said it would be good to have Rahul with his vast experience spend some time with  the boys ahead of the series,” BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel told ESPNcricinfo, ”we immediately requested Rahul and he readily agreed,” Patel said.

Dravid was the only Indian batsman, who was succeed by scoring three centuries, when India last toured England in 2011 and were crushed by England  4-0. Former India Captain Dravid retired in 2012 after a successful Test career during which he scored 13288 runs. In 164 Tests, Dravid scored 36 centuries, with his maiden ton coming in South Africa in 1997. Dravid was also a successful ODI batsman, scoring 10889 runs with 12 hundreds. His tactics will surely help youngster to tackle with the Englishmen.

Dravid’s inclusion in the team has been praised by former Indian opener Aakash Chopra. Another former India captain and batting legend Sunil Gavaskar, who is currently handling the IPL related issues, had proposed the name of Dravid as team India coach, who wanted fletcher sacked after the ICC World T20.
