Brian Havill has been appointed acting chief executive of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), replacing David Collier. Brian Havill was appointed Finance Director of the ECB in August 2000. He qualified as a chartered accountant with PWC London in the mid-1980s and then worked for PWC in Australia for three years.

He was the Commercial Director at Pentland Sports Group from 1996 to 2000 and Chief Operating Officer at HI-TEC Sports International from 1993 to 1996. He was on the Council of the Lawn Tennis Association for six years, 2008 to 2013.

He is currently an independent member on the audit committee of the Sport and Recreation Alliance. Havill’s promotion is the third major change to the order of English cricket in the past year following Paul Downton’s appointment as managing director and Peter Moores replacing Andy Flower as national head coach.

The ECB said: “His appointment allows retiring CEO David Collier the time to conclude specific projects for both ECB and the International Cricket Council.”
