BCCI has doubled the annual retainer ship fee of 32 centrally contracted cricketers and omitted some senior players from the list.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s Committee of Administrators (COA) on Wednesday announced that Grade A players would now get Rs. 2 crore instead of Rs. 1 crore, while Grade B and Grade C players will get Rs. 1 crore and Rs. 50 Lakh respectively.
The match fee for Test matches has been hiked to Rs 15 lakh per match from Rs 7.50 lakh earlier. For the ODI and T20 Internationals the fee has also been doubled to Rs 6 lakh and 3 lakh respectively. The decision will be implemented retrospectively from October 2016.
There are three big names which are missing from the list naming Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh and Gautum Gambhir. Though Raina was part of the India T20 squad after the new contract came into effect yet he failed to register his name in the 32 player list.
The omission of Harbhajan Singh and Gautam Gambhir name is justified as they have played before the said date, from which the contracts are to come into effect but Raina had played for India after October 1, 2016 and till recently was a permanent member of the limited overs fixtures.
There are seniors like Yuvraj Singh and Ashish Nehra have found place in Grade B and C respectively
