Kidambi Srikanth reaches to semi final and will face top Chinese Chen Long. India’s campaign in the women’s singles came to an end with Saina Nehwal surprising loss in the women’s singles quarterfinals at the Hong Kong Super Series on Friday.

However, Super Series Premier winner, Srikanth booked his place in semi-finals after defeating World No. 21 Wei in a 36-minute quarterfinal match.

Srikanth held a 10-6 lead in the opening game and without allowing his rival Wei to come near booked his win by 21-14. In the second game, Srikanth takes 8-3 lead and put the second game in his favour by 21-15.

Saina Nehwal crashed out of the Hong Kong Open after losing her quarter-finals match to Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei. Ying takes 39 minutes to book her place in quarterfinals.

Saina takes 5-2 lead in the opening minutes but unable to extend it and lost first game by 21-15. In the second game Saina fought back as the two tied on 19-all but Ying came up and clinch the game by 21-19.
